“I was skeptical at best when she mentioned the journey she was going to take with you, the cost involved, etc…”

If you’ve got a partner you are concerned will be skeptical or unsupportive of yet another thing you want to do to lose weight…I hear you, read on…

One of the biggest hurdles so many women encounter is getting the support of their partner when they want to invest or try yet another weight loss program. For often good reasons their partner is hesitant which to the woman can feel unsupportive.

This is a completely valid hesitation – and one we should not tip-toe around.

Here’s the thing, from the perspective of your partner, they have often watched you struggle, suffer, starve, not eat normal food, take injections, deny and deprive yourself of any “bad” or “red light” foods and then they watch you overeat, binge, and engage in all of the horrible self-talk that follows when the diet becomes too hard to follow or “stick to”.

And they’ve watched you do this for years, sometimes decades.

You see, your partner loves you. They love you as you are. They don’t see the extra weight on your body the way you do – often they don’t even notice it. They want you to be happy. To be comfortable and they definitely don’t want you to be so hard on yourself.

The problem is that they don’t hear your inner mental chatter. They don’t know how the extra weight or struggle with food is tearing you up from the inside out. It destroys your self-confidence, self-esteem, and eventually your self-worth.

Imagine my surprise when this email from a client’s husband landed in my inbox (read the subject line – so sweet).

It meant everything to me to read his words and that he took the time to reach out and share what his experience of his wife’s journey was like.

ANDY’S EMAIL

Hello Jennifer!

I’m Andy, Becky’s husband and I wanted to just take a short moment to send you a personal note.

Becky has struggled with issues all her life, both personal and intrapersonal that I as her husband have been powerless to help her with (never heard this story before I bet..lol).

I was skeptical at best when she mentioned the journey she was going to take with you, the cost involved, etc.

The reason is that over the course of our almost 15-year marriage, she has spent a small fortune on every exercise program, DVD, book, and snake oil available to help her lose weight and feel good about herself.

Weight Watchers was her “go back to” when the latest offering fell by the wayside, and it would help with the weight loss, but only for a while.

Little did she or I know that it was the thing behind the thing (thanks for that by the way, I repeat it so much I should have a string you can pull out of my back lol)

Anyway, her journey toward happiness, self-discovery, ability to kick her mother’s boatload of toxic negativity to the curb and turn THAT into sympathy and understanding (Houdini-level achievement), AND lose the weight she wanted, AND stand stronger in the face of adversity, AND improve our relationship…

Well, I just gotta ask…
You running for office anytime soon?
You’d get my vote, cuz you’d be the only politician I ever liked. 🙂

Sincerely though, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. My girl is so much happier than she has ever been, and by extension, so am I, and there’s no price you can put on that. You’re worth every penny.

Have a great day!
Andy.

Beyond heartwarming right? My wish is for every woman to have a supportive partner but I know that won’t always be the case.
