This was me 10 years ago – smart, successful, and… 

35+ POUNDS OVER WEIGHT.

With every pound I gained, my insecurities grew and my confidence plummeted. I didn’t want to be seen, I felt held back by my weight and I relied on chocolate chips and red wine (almost every evening) to numb the frustration and disappointment I felt in myself and other areas of my life.

You see for me, food and wine had become my go-to comforts for everything – loneliness, boredom, exhaustion, fun, entertainment, and despite having a Masters degree, numerous certifications, and having been an endurance athlete, I lacked the basic understanding of what it really took to lose weight AND keep it off.

Once I stopped trying to force my body into rigid compliance of outdated dieting tactics, stopped punishing myself with grueling workouts, and started to go deep… uncovering why I was numbing in the first place, I was able to finally lose 35+ lbs and I KNEW I’d cracked the code on creating healthy, permanent weight loss.

It became my life’s mission to help other women do the same.

When it comes to losing weight permanently?

OBVIOUSLY… KNOWING BETTER DOESN’T TRANSLATE INTO DOING BETTER. WHAT WILL?

My absolute low…

One day in December. Running in minus a million degrees. Lagging MILES behind my group. My heart screaming, tears frozen solid on my face. My tights wet and sticking to me (thank you, stress-induced incontinence …!) and I decided:

“I CAN’T GO ON LIKE THIS”.

The confusion… exhaustion… SHAME. It had to end.

You see the night before I’d been planning to go out with a few of my girlfriends. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time and I was excited to go. I started getting ready early in the evening and I knew exactly the outfit I was going to wear. I had this awesome pair of boyfriend jeans and a cute tank top I loved.

I started to put my jeans on and…they were tight. I couldn’t do them up. I could barely get them on. So I pulled out the next item of clothing and then the next one. I emptied my closet and clothes poured into a heap on my bed. NOTHING FIT.

Gross, disgusting, ugly, fat, frumpy…the inner chatter was deafening to me. How’d I get here?

I ended up on the floor in a pile of tears. I called my girlfriends and lied to them. I said the kids were sick and I couldn’t go.

You see the glasses of wine and chocolate chips and all the other foods I gave into to numb my sadness, loneliness, and despair had taken a toll on my body and it showed.

And I realized, if anything was going to change?

I HAD TO CREATE THAT CHANGE.
