Is it officially time to add some self-care and wellness back into your life? Wellness is something that’s easy to fall to the bottom of your priorities list – especially if you’re someone who’s busy and always on the go. But the truth is it’s one of the most important things you can do for yourself. It’s time we all start accepting wellness as a value!

So, if you find yourself saying things like “I want to lead a healthier lifestyle, but I don’t have the time”, then this post is definitely for you. Let’s take a look at some ways to find time for wellness for busy women, starting with why wellness is so important to include in your everyday life – even when you’re on the go!

The Importance of Wellness

Wellness is important because it allows you to be better equipped for handling the rest of the aspects of your life. If you don’t take care of yourself, you’re not going to be able to perform at your best. Especially when it comes to the things you do each day. Like being a great parent, performing at work, or attempting to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle physically.

In order to do each of those things to your best potential you need to be at your best. Taking time for wellness, even when you’re busy, is essential to your success.

How to Find Time for Wellness

You’re busy, I get that completely. Not to mention, we’re entering one of the busiest, most demanding times of the year when it feels like we’re pulled in even more directions than we thought possible. But you and your health should always be at the top of your list of priorities. To help you ensure that you find the time for yourself, your needs, and your wellness, I put together this list of ways to find time for it!

Give yourself a monthly treat

Ever heard the phrase “treat yourself”? It’s not just a phrase, it’s something you should take seriously when it comes to your wellness.

Maybe it’s getting a massage or a facial, or buying your favorite tea. Whatever it may be, treating yourself each and every month is a great way to show yourself a little love. Be sure to schedule this time so nothing gets in the way of it!

Always leave work on time

If you’re someone who’s always busy at work, then you will need to make an effort to take care of your personal time. Leaving work late on a regular basis isn’t great when it comes to taking care of yourself.

Make a point of leaving work at a reasonable time each day. Then when you get home, you can use that time wisely. Spend it doing your favorite hobby or spend some extra time with friends and family.

Buy tickets to events well ahead of time

Have you ever found yourself thinking about how you would love to go to a show or a sports game? Or saying to yourself that you’ll buy tickets eventually, but then never do?

Make it a habit to buy the tickets as soon as you decide you would like to attend a certain event. When you have the tickets in hand and purchased, you’ll have no choice but to attend! This also gives you something fun to look forward to which is known to enhance optimism and enthusiasm about life.

Think about joining a group

Socialization is often one of the first things to do when it comes to people who are busy. But socialization is an important part of wellness and taking time for yourself.

You might consider joining a group that has to do with your personal interests. Whether it’s a book club or a sports-related group, connecting with others can help you to feel rejuvenated.

Make time for exercise

Exercise is an essential part of your physical health, but it’s super important for your mental health as well! If you’re busy, it can be difficult to make time for exercise, but it’s important to make a habit out of it.

Even just a quick 20-minute walk each day can help your own wellness in a big way. It allows you to refocus your mind and clear your head, not to mention the endorphins that will help you to feel happy and refreshed.

Make the most of commute time

Commuting every day might seem daunting, but it’s actually time that can be utilized. If you drive your car to work then you might listen to music, audiobooks, or a podcast. If you take public transportation this time can be utilized even more. You might read, write, or even meditate.

Each of these things contributes to your wellness. Even just a few minutes on your commute each day can make a big difference.

Consider walking and arriving early

Is it possible to switch up your commute by walking? When you walk to work you accomplish a bunch of things all at once. You get yourself to work, you get exercise, you get time to yourself, and you get fresh air.

All of these things are important for your wellness and can all be accomplished during your commute. You might also consider arriving early for things like work and appointments. Giving yourself an extra 15 minutes or so is time that can be used for a bit of relaxation and reset.

Try meal prepping

Meal prepping is also something that helps you to kill two birds with one stone. Planning your meals ahead of time ensures you have healthy and nutritious meals to eat throughout the week. It also saves you a ton of time when it comes to cooking which you can then use for wellness purposes. After all, healthy eating creates a healthy body!

When you’re busy, preparing meals can feel like a huge burden. Having it done will help you a lot when it comes to time and feeling rushed.

Try getting a treadmill desk

Another great way to be efficient and improve your wellness is to get a treadmill desk. It’s essentially a desk with a walking treadmill attached that you can use while you work.

There are tons of great benefits to standing/walking while you work. It helps to burn extra calories and is a great way to switch things up from sitting all day.

Pick a gym nearby

As I mentioned earlier, physical activity is an important part of overall wellness. If your gym is a long drive away, the chances of you getting there regularly aren’t going to be great. Pick a gym you can get to easily and quickly so you never have the excuse of not having enough time.

Keep screen time to a minimum

While it might feel somewhat relaxing to sit on your screen and scroll or spend your time bingeing a TV show, it’s never good to stare at your screen all day. Try getting up and moving at least once every couple of hours and try taking up a different hobby in place of screen time.

You’ll feel a lot better and a lot more accomplished as well!

Go to bed earlier

When you go to bed earlier, you’re able to wake up earlier. Waking up early is great for your morning routine. You’ll have more time to spend cooking a healthy breakfast and can use this time to focus on wellness.

Get a workout in, do some meditation or reading, and you’re sure to start your day off on the right foot.

Put aside “me time” each day

If there’s one thing you should make sure of when it comes to wellness, it’s that you have at least 15 minutes of “me time” each day. This time can be used to do whatever it is that helps you to feel good. But carving out this time and actually using it is essential to your overall wellness.

Here are a few enriching ideas to consider for filling this time:

  • Light your favorite candle and journal
  • Cozy up with a good book
  • Put away the distractions (phone, tablet, TV) and engage in a passion project or fulfilling hobby
  • Listen to your favorite podcast

Combine wellness time with family time

Wellness time doesn’t always need to be time spent alone. Get creative and try incorporating your family and friends into doing the things that make you feel healthy and happy.

Go on a bike ride, or spend the day baking in the kitchen together. This will not only help you to feel great but the people you love as well!

There you have it! All the ideas you could ever need to ensure you make time for wellness for busy women. Use these and I’m certain you’re going to feel much more rested and better equipped to take on your busy schedule each day.

Remember, those good things take time and your best years are still ahead of you. Making time for wellness might not be something that feels natural right away, but even a small effort each day can make a huge difference in the long term! And I’m always here to help.
